Crown and Country Vintage Fair

Our First Craft Fair!

After a very late night of preparing for the fair we were both feeling and looking like zombies...
but we were ready for the day ahead!

Overall we had a successful time! Maybe not as successful as we had hoped on the money front but engaging with people in similar situations to ourselves really was inspiring! We met some brilliant people who we hope to keep in touch with and learn from in the future.

Hearing and seeing customer reactions to our cards was also good! We had raised eyebrows, laughs at Ralph the Reindeer and conversations about Graphic Design!

Thanks Crown and Country for letting us be involved!

Happy Chanukah!

Prestwich and it's surrounding areas are home to one if the largest Jewish communities in Britain. To make the most out of our time at the Craft Fair we thought it essential to take this into account. Therefore we have decided to not only sell Christmas Cards but Chanukah Cards too as many of our customers may not celebrate Christmas!

We spoke to our Jewish friend who advised us on what sorts of styles our cards could have. Here are a few card experiments we have designed going along the theme of the star of David

Business Cards

Busy Morning Designing Business Cards....

To get ready for the fair we have decided to make some business cards which we can give out on the day! Brown bags are on order which we can personalise with our logo. When a card is purchased customers will get a bag and a business card. Again a way of getting our names out there!

Last time we made business cards was for our degree show in July this year, we printed them ourselves and cut them by hand, however we found it more trouble than it was worth! Especially when we had the added stresses of finishing our pieces for the show! So this time we have decided to lead by example... We have sent our designs to Vista Print!

Hand made and Vintage Winter Market

Our Christmas Cards have received a brilliant reception from everyone who has supported us, so... we have decided to see how successful they'd be at a craft fair! It would be a great opportunity for us to get our names out there and also to mix with other 'crafty' people.

Today we researched and found the local craft fairs which best suited our designs. We came across many which sounded brilliant and sent out emails in hope that there would still be places left considering the short notice.

Unfortunately many were fully booked but we were lucky enough to find a cancelation at the Hand Made and Vintage Winter Market! It was the one which we were hoping for the most, looking at the poster and the hand drawn map it really suits our style and we have many plans already for how we will decorate the table to fit this old English theme!

Take a look at the blog and website to find out more about the event... But thats all from me and Becky, we have some serious card making to be doing!!!

Hand Made Rodo Christmas Cards!

Sorry not posted in a while! We have been busy designing and making Christmas cards!  They've taken lots of time and effort but we are so pleased with what we have created and so are our customers!

We have produced nine different designs, one set of cards has a more traditional feel for those people who like to stay within the boundaries of Christmas! Our other pack has a humorous take on Christmas with illustrated characters including Ralph the Reindeer and Trevor the Turkey!

We hope you like what we have made :) Merry Christmas!

Hand in...

This morning myself and Bec gave in our catalogues and were so happy with the comments we received from Topman Trafford! The managers were so pleased with the work we had produced! From the Tshirt designs, to the time taken to produce the final booklet!

They said they didn't know what they were expecting... but it wasn't a standard as good as this! :)

Me and Bec have worked so hard on this and to hear these positive comments was really encouraging! Sometimes we do doubt ourselves but this has made us realise that we need to go with it and be more confident! We are so proud of ourselves and will be using the weekend to celebrate. Even if they don't get printed, this has been a huge learning curve for us, it has also given us an opportunity to work together. So this is still a reason to celebrate... Getting printed will be a bonus!!

Thanks for the support TSTMTRAFFORD! We already have a few members of staff wanting to buy the Tshirts so fingers crossed!

... Now we need to please the 'big dogs' in London...

Finished Catalogues!!

After a long few weeks of designing and decision making our Tshirts are finished!! And we're so pleased with the result!!

We decided the best way to show off our designs would be to use a catalogue format. Our catalogue features all forty designs as well as our inspirations and original photography- contact information can be found on the back page.

We felt that the way we bound our book was important for the presentation of our ideas. Originally we were going to staple our book together our use a ring binder, but thinking more into it we believed that sewing would be more appropriate, bringing tools used in fashion and producing a more exclusive and handmade look! We used the pamphlet stitch with black cotton - a simple but nice touch.

It would have been easier to go to the printer.... But we wanted to do it ourselves and feel the full sense of achievement!

Hand in time TOMORROW! Hope the guys like what we have produced.. We will keep you updated!

Jade Corker Photography

Some more design ideas for Jade Corkers Photography.

I wanted to type to be friendly and fun because Jade is a young upcoming photographer. The logo had to be eye catching for her young clients at the moment and for the future. I have worked with illustrations of cameras and focus symbols to play alongside to type.

I think we have come up with a very good range of ideas that are not similar, but now she has the hard task of picking!

We will let you know when her decision has been made!
